Repercussions of Rigidity

“Power always makes a cubic centimeter of chance available to a warrior. The warrior’s art is to be perennially fluid in order to pluck it.”

— Carlos Castaneda

In a world constantly in flux, the fluid thrive and the static perish. From amoeba’s to humans … adapting to change is the key to continuing upon the path of life.

Humans, when confronted with change—most of us—most of the time … take opposition to it, becoming rigid. Our rigidity lies just beneath our ordinary awareness waiting to be noticed, becoming well entrenched in our daily lives, keeping us prisoner of our single cognition and syntax.

We hear it in our language … both spoken aloud as well as inner dialogue. “It shouldn’t be this difficult.” “They ought to treat me better.” “I must do …”.

We become absolutistic; adhering to some set of “rules” of how life is supposed to be. This language of rigidity cements us into a reality where we, at best, only think in dichotomous terms; right or wrong, good or evil, black and white. We become rigid in our “rights”, rather than seeing what is. Oughts, Musts, Should, Never, Always fill our inner and outer dialogue, forming the syntax of rigidity.

We see rigidity in our actions as well. Arguing, fighting and being offended are signs of the energy of rigidity. When we are rigid, our bodies prepare for that opposition. Our body tenses up, we develop tunnel vision and we “know” instead of “perceive”. When things are rigid… they break.

There is nothing in the world that is not constantly changing… we either adapt or perish. That is why we created the 4 day intensive workshop, Change: Seers Fluidity in Action to help you embody the fluidity to help you navigate along your path. The more fluid you become, the more options and opportunities you create.
